Ive finally completed my 3 years of studies in Digital Animation. Learned much and experienced much. Glad that it was over and now I can move on in pursuing art in life... I... think.
Currently Im freelancing in Southern Star, doing 3D modeling. I'm pretty slow with the program, but still manageable. Bah, as I was Maya taught, it was quite a hassle for me to use 3dsMax. Or maybe the problem lies between keyboard and chair. Haha.
Work has been tiring so usually I sleep without practice drawing. Oh gosh. o_O Then after a few months I'll be serving National Service for 2 years. Seem like the road to freedom is still far away. But nevertheless I'll try to draw when I have the weekends.
I won't be posting works anytime soon. M scanner isn't working is one reason; also I'm back to learning fundamentals instead of doing complete renders. Attended my 2nd nude life drawing session, and found how much foreign my compressed charcoal is to me. Lost the touch I had back in school. Hmm...
I would like to feature some artist that I just +watched recently (no particular order). As a side note, I don't TRADE featuring. They're featured simply because I was awed at their works.
1.)

You might already know him; he's quite popular I think. He's skilled and quick with penciling and painter. I like his comic panels the most. Watching this deviant is of good benefit, he likes to share his experience of his work, his life in dA, and his insights of etiquette.
2.)

Another popular artist who is really skilled in painting. There are some monsters concepts I like in his gallery. Oh yea, he participated in Dominance War recently, his idea is tooo cool.
3.)

What caught our attention to this guy was his demo reel. I like this guy's pencil works, almost the same style as I'm going. He has many sketches and silhouettes worth checking out.
4.)

This is a personal favorite. I thought he used illustrator, but found out they're done by Photoshop. Anyway his works has this... kind of... hm... vector style to it. He paid attention to every line or curve. Theres lots of attitude in his characters.
5.)

Check his gallery and I won't have to say more. He has a very unique, quirky kind of design. Love his colors!
Lastly, I'll just pimp 3 friends of mine who joined dA lately. Hope they post more works.

Have a rewarding day ahead.

You die. XD
Anyway, foundation year is almost ending for me. In 2 - 3 more weeks time. We will be having exams and final project submissions. One thing I've come to realise is that Uni life is really short when you look at it from a big picture. Lol. It's like 3-4 months a semester. Still 'adjusting' from the linear Sec -> JC route. =/
Come August and I'll finally be starting on the actual major (Digital Animation) but foundation year is definitely useful. I dunno if you took any form of Art History in Poly but if you don't, you should really read up a bit on it if u have the time. It's really useful+interesting and the professors say it's definitely something u should have some knowledge about if u wanna acknowledge yourself as a (fine (Not meaning that good/'hao' fine but fine arts)) artist as well as be acknowledged by other artists in the world (The reasoning they say is 'How can you call yourself an artist if you don't know anything about Art History?' XD) The Art History exams suck though. >
Anyway, I will probably be taking the Advanced Drawing module in Year 2 for basically the reason why you're despairing about fundamentals.
And when Year 2 starts, I'll be ready to give up my life since the seniors are all like 'Oh, ADM-ers have no life, etc, etc...'
Yea we studied Art History in NYP too. Art Nouveau, Expressionism, Impressionsim, Industrial Revolution, etc. We need to do research and presentations. Not very fun though.
We have drawing classes for all 3 years in poly. But you'll know later in life learning doesn't stop after school. Fundamentals are to be practiced everyday, til you're old. I've seen way too many people forgoing the basics and went straight into the "paint job".
Haha. We had experienced no-life (completing a 3d animation in 3 weeks, sleeping in school) and survived. I believe you'll work a way out too.
